Principles of Government


Justice in the Classroom | The Rule of Law | Principles of Government is a lesson on the concept of the rule of law and how it is an integral part of our governing systems in America. Through this standards-based curriculum, middle school students learn the fundamental political principles that define and shape American constitutional government through simulation, class discussion, and by creating cartoons that reflect the principles of government that shaped the United States.

Middle School: 2015 Standards

CE.2 The student will apply social science skills to understand the foundations of American constitutional government by
a) explaining the fundamental principles of consent of the governed, limited government, rule of law, democracy, and representative government
CE.3 The student will apply social science skills to understand citizenship and the rights, duties, and responsibilities of citizens by
